Meet Mary Wilson

Emily “Mary” Greising was born September 23rd, 1926. Mary was born and raised in Pinebush, New York. Mary’s father, Joseph Greising, worked as a dairy farmer. Her mother, Emily, helped out on the farm and raised Mary and her 5 brothers; Joe, John, Ernest, Frank, and Raymond.

Mary enjoyed living on the farm. Her chores included but were not limited to milking and feeding the cows and storing hay bales in the barn.

Mary went to Pinebush Central School, where she graduated. She played flute in the school band.

After school, Mary met Francis McCann, who moved in the farmhouse nearby after his home burned down. Mary and Francis were married by age 19. A home was built on her family farm. They had four children together; John, Francis, Peter, and Kathleen.

Francis, Mary, and the children worked on the farm and owned riding horses, as well. Unfortunately, when Mary’s youngest Kathleen was five years old, Francis had a heart attack at work and later passed away.

Mary found love again when she met her 2nd husband, Russell Wilson.

Russell worked for Ford Motor Company. They married in 1948 and remained so until his passing.

Mary’s hobbies include vegetable gardening, reading, baking, and knitting. She enjoys listening to country music and watching adventure films.

Mary has been a resident at Hampshire House since late October. So far, she has been engaged in a variety of activities, such as scenic drives, crafts, exercise, and everyone’s favorite… BINGO!

When asked for a piece of advice for the younger generation, Mary said, “Be honest and work hard”. Welcome Mary!
