Earlier this month we celebrated Chinese New Year, as we gathered in our library. We learned about the customs of this holiday and that it is the Year of the Monkey. We also enjoyed green tea and veryone read their fortunes from the fortune cookies.
The Chinese New Year Red Envelope is one of the favorite Chinese traditions for children since on New Year’s Day, they are given the shiny things with money inside! Instead of Santa Claus or presents under the tree, you get your glossy red envelope. So our residents were given a lucky red envelope with a surprise inside!
